WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?
Joe Allen is in the bag for £15m (Brendan Rodgers has said he would have paid "many more millions"), so what next for Liverpool? Well, the Daily Mirror comes up with no new names but puts them all in one handy place.
So they reckon there will be three new signings - Clint Dempsey (despite the haggling leading to a 'tense stand-off), a winger like Theo Walcott or Adam Johnson, and Real Madrid 'defender' (the Mirror's words, not ours) Nuri Sahin, who could arive on a season-long loan despite Arsenal seeming to be the favourites for hs signature.
MODRIC TO GROVEL?
This column wishes a hearty 'good luck' to Luka Modric as he prepares for 'showdown talks' (according to the Daily Mirror) with Tottenham this weekend. You know what's going on by now - Spurs want £40m for the Croat and won't pay a penny less. But Real Madrid - who are apparently the only suitors - have no intention of paying that amount. So there's an impasse.
Luka Modric has been training on his own after both chairman Daniel Levy and manager Andre Villas-Boas lost patience with his attitude, but now he's going to have to say 'pretty please' and ask them to play ball and sell for much less than £40m. We don't fancy his chances too much.
CITY TURN DOWN PSG BID
Roberto Mancini revealed on Friday that the club have turned down several bids for Mario Balotelli after his impressive Euro 2012 and now the Daily Star claim that one of his suitors was PSG and that City have snubbed a £40m bid for the Italian.
Mancini apparently threatened to walk out if the club cashed in on the Italian and told his bosses to concentrate on selling cast-offs like Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz instead.
AND THE REST
